Twelve-year-old Malaysian young author, student leader, Carnatic vocalist, violinist and young artist Raghul Meshan Kathavarayan today launched his debut English science fiction novel, INITIUM FINIS: THE BEGINNING OF THE END, at the National Library of Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur.
The book launch brought together school leaders, professionals, students and well-wishers to celebrate the remarkable literary achievement of a young Malaysian student whose interests span science, technology, the arts, leadership and innovation.
A student of Global Indian International School (GIIS), Kuala Lumpur, Raghul is the author of INITIUM FINIS: THE BEGINNING OF THE END, a science fiction novel inspired by space exploration, artificial intelligence and the future of humanity. The book reflects his imagination and curiosity about where technological advancement may lead humanity, while encouraging young readers to dream boldly and think about the responsibilities that come with creating the future.
With the inspirational message “Dream without limits. Create with purpose. Inspire the future,” Raghul’s debut work demonstrates creativity, discipline and perseverance well beyond his years.
Beyond his achievements as an author, Raghul serves as Primary Head Prefect and Deputy Cultural Captain at GIIS Kuala Lumpur. He is recognized for academic excellence and for his active involvement in leadership, cultural and school initiatives.
Raghul is also an accomplished Carnatic vocalist, with music performances released through his official YouTube channel, and is a violinist. His wide-ranging interests include chess, painting, sketching, astronomy, robotics, STEM innovation, public speaking and science fiction writing.
His diverse pursuits reflect a young mind that is equally passionate about creativity and discovery — combining the discipline of the performing arts with a fascination for science, technology and the possibilities of the future.
A Proud Moment for His Family
Raghul’s parents, Mr Kathavarayan and Dr Sharmani, expressed their pride in their son’s achievement, saying:

At just 12 years old, seeing him transform his curiosity, imagination and love for science into a published novel is deeply meaningful to us. We have always encouraged him to explore his interests, dream fearlessly and remain committed to whatever he chooses to pursue. The family also expressed gratitude to Raghul’s teachers, school leaders, mentors, friends and everyone who supported and encouraged him throughout the journey of bringing his first novel to life.
