The British Council has launched its first-ever immersive Pop-Up Study UK event to showcase the best of UK education to Malaysians.

Held at Sunway Pyramid (Oasis Concourse) from 20-23 February, the event highlighted the UK’s excellence across four core study areas: Arts and Design, Sports, Health and Technology and Engineering. Visitors will have the chance to meet and engage directly with top UK universities and academics to see for themselves the cutting-edge research that shapes the future of global enterprise.

David Wallace, Acting British High Commissioner to Malaysia emphasised the profound impact of a UK education: “The UK has always been a top destination for Malaysia students, with over 80,000 Malaysians studying in our world-class institutions around the UK over the last decade. Education is the bedrock of UK-Malaysia relations and has the power to drive innovation and shape future leaders. We’re proud to showcase the best of UK education to Malaysia through Pop-Up Study UK.”

Highlights of the event are the ‘GREAT’ lectures and interactive workshops led by world- class experts in their field, designed to offer visitors bite-sized learning experiences such as:

  • “Performance Analysis in Elite Football” by Liverpool John Moores University — with insights into sports science and analytics.
  • “Understanding Human Intelligence through AI and Robotics” by The University of Sheffield — exploring AI’s role in shaping the future.
  • “Enhancing Flood Resilience through Engineering” by Cardiff University — tackling real-world climate challenges through engineering solutions.
  • “Imagination: Modelmaking Meets Cutting-Edge Technology” by Nottingham Trent University — blending creativity with emerging technologies to inspire future designers and innovators.

Jazreel Goh, Director of the British Council Malaysia, shared the Council’s vision for Pop-Up Study UK: “We want to make UK education more accessible to Malaysians by showing them what it truly offers beyond just rankings and degrees. The new event format is designed to deliver an interactive and engaging experience to enable students, parents and professionals to explore the breadth and depth of UK education. These micro-learning opportunities reflect the UK’s distinctive education approach — one that fosters critical thinking and adaptability with a global outlook.”

Jazreel Goh also highlighted the transformative value of a UK education: “Studying in the UK is not only about gaining academic knowledge – it’s about shaping adaptable, forward- thinking and future-ready individuals. Exposure to international learning environments nurtures creative problem-solving, cultural intelligence and leadership qualities that empower graduates to thrive in a dynamic global landscape. It’s what Malaysian employers are looking for right now.”

Beyond academic excellence, the UK continues to be at the forefront of tackling global challenges, from sustainability and the Industrial Revolution 4.0 to advancements in AI, health sciences and the creative economy. With UK graduates ranked among the most globally employable, the British education system cultivates independent thinkers, problem solvers and global leaders.

Pop-Up Study UK is an opportunity for Malaysians to directly experience what makes a UK education unique. Through meeting and connecting with university representatives, subject experts and alumni, visitors will gain valuable insight into the diversity of academic and career routes that a UK education makes more accessible.

Pop-Up Study UK runs until 23 February at Sunway Pyramid, offering Malaysians a chance to explore the possibilities of studying in the UK.
