Fedex Inspires Future Entrepreneurs of Malaysia at the 2024 Fedex/JA International Trade Challenge

Federal Express Corporation, one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, announced the six winners of the 2024 FedEx/Junior Achievement International Trade Challenge (FedEx/JA ITC) Malaysia Finals. The winners will advance to the FedEx/JA ITC Asia, Middle East and Africa (AMEA) regional finals to be held in August 2024.


For the past 16 years, FedEx has been collaborating with Junior Achievement (JA) Malaysia to foster the growth and development of Malaysian youth. Through the ITC programme, FedEx and JA Malaysia provide students with team activities and customised workshops focused on global trade, paving the way for their future success as leaders of commerce.


The six students who will represent Malaysia at the regional finals are:


  1. Team: The Randoms
    Names of students: Cheong Chun Kit & Yeong Yun Lam
    School: Catholic High School
    Product name: Shower Timer
    Product presented: A timer that limits shower duration and preheats water. Users can monitor and control their water usage via an app, helping them understand their daily consumption, increase awareness and save both water and money.
  2. Team: Aqua Wonders
    Names of students: Shivani Unnamalai A/P Sinna Annamalai & Julia Jasmine Binti Jufri
    School: SMK Convent Green Lane
    Product name: Circulon
    Product presented: An ultramodern enhanced water filter that collects wastewater throughout the house, then decontaminates, filters and circulates it back into the system.
  3. Team: Hydro Quest
    Names of students: Anshul Bangalore Aratish & Hwang Yeseong
    School: Tanarata International School
    Product name: Mini Sprinkler
    Product presented: An alternative way to provide the right amount of water at the right time for the healthy growth of plants without the owner’s presence.

The upcoming regional finals will return to an in-person event for the first time since the pandemic. Taking place in Singapore in August, the Malaysian winners will compete with students from Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Malaysian students will have a unique opportunity for collaborative brainstorming, exchanging of ideas and insights and engaging in constructive discussions with peers hailing from a rich tapestry of cultures from across the region.

This year, the students were challenged to develop a market entry strategy targeting Australia for a product centered around water conservation. This project is timely and relevant as extreme heat has impacted Australian ecosystems and infrastructure.

The ITC programme creates an opportunity for young talents to amass their ideas and transform them into reality, which is a critical component of entrepreneurship. This program also embodies our vision of developing future business leaders and equipping them for the dynamic and rapidly changing macroenvironment.”

Since 2008, more than 9,200 Malaysian students have participated in the FedEx/JA ITC competition, with two students making it to the Top 3 teams at the Regional Finals in 2019.
