The Koryo Taekwondo Club Malaysia is proud to announce the 1st Leg of the 14th Koryo Circuit Taekwondo Championship 2026, which will take place on 13–14 June 2026 at Multimedia University (MMU), Cyberjaya, Selangor. The championship is expected to attract taekwondo athletes from Koryo clubs across Malaysia, providing a competitive platform for athletes to showcase their skills and sportsmanship.
The two-day championship will feature competitions in Sparring (Kyorugi) and Poomsae, conducted in accordance with the official regulations and standards of World Taekwondo. Athletes will compete across eight weight categories and four age divisions: 9–11 years, 12–14 years, 15–17 years and Open Division (17 years and above).
To ensure fair and balanced competition, all age divisions will be further divided into Class A (Professional) and Class B (Amateur) categories. Class A (Professional) athletes will compete under full-body contact rules, with both body and head scoring techniques permitted in accordance with competition regulations. Class B (Amateur) athletes will compete under bodycontact-only rules, with scoring techniques restricted to the body protector and head contact strictly prohibited. This classification system is designed to promote athlete safety while providing suitable competitive opportunities based on participants’ skill levels and experience.
Competition matches will commence daily at 8:30 a.m., utilizing eight competition rings equipped with 8m x 8m competition mats to ensure a smooth and professional tournament experience. The event venue at MMU Cyberjaya offers a conducive environment for athletes, coaches, officials, and spectators alike.
The primary objective of the championship is to strengthen competitive opportunities among Koryo Taekwondo clubs throughout Malaysia while fostering the growth and development of local taekwondo talent. The tournament also serves as an important platform for identifying promising athletes who may be selected to represent regional teams in future competitions.
To ensure fair and high-quality competition standards, the organizing committee will provide the necessary equipment and technology, including Protector and Scoring Systems (PSS), electronic body protectors, headgear, chest guards, and electronic sensors. These systems will help deliver accurate scoring and enhance the overall integrity of the competition.
