It is grossly unfair if children do not learn at their young age to enjoy learning. Learning should be an enjoyable experience for all children in the country and it must not be viewed by children and parents as an arduous task.
The current syllabi by the education ministry still puts too much emphasis on the results of students in tests and examinations which gives undue pressure on them to compete and to cope with schooling.
Instead, for those in pre-school and primary school, being educated should be a fun, memorable experience. The onus by the education ministry is to ensure education through an edutainment format.
This means students learn in a fun, entertaining way and this should drive away the boredom and the blues. Teachers must go to the ground, be proactive and stimulate and motivate children so they will have the interest to learn.
The use of animation and technology is also another way the education ministry can bring the current schooling system to be up-to-date so that children should know about mobile technology at a young age,
All the stakeholders involved, the education ministry, teachers, parents and students must be engaged in discussion and debate on how to improve and improvise on the schooling system for their mutual benefit.
