The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) continues to emphasize the importance of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as a key driver in developing Malaysia’s skilled workforce.
According to Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Datuk Mustapha Sakmud, this focus supports the nation’s goal of becoming a high-income, developed country built on a foundation of skilled talent.
“TVET is no longer seen as a secondary option. It is now a leading choice that consistently produces highly skilled, world-class professionals. Our national TVET ecosystem has been strategically developed to nurture this talent,” he said at the official send-off ceremony for the POLYCC Robotics Team, who will represent Malaysia at the 30th FIRA RoboWorld Cup and Summit 2025 in Daegu, South Korea, from August 11 to 15.
He emphasized that international exposure through competitions like these plays a vital role in enhancing students’ self-confidence, expanding their technical and cross-cultural understanding, and building valuable global connections for future career growth.
Mustapha also voiced his belief that such active participation would significantly contribute to shaping an innovative and skilled workforce, while simultaneously boosting Malaysia’s reputation in technology and TVET sectors.
“These students are more than just competitors—they are youth ambassadors for Malaysia. They represent the spirit of POLYCC and the nation, and we hope they will create engaging content to showcase how TVET can shine on the world stage,” he added.
He further announced that participants who secure wins at the event will receive an RM1,000 incentive.
Sixteen POLYCC students will compete in four categories: HuroCup, Autonomous Car Challenge, Air-Drone Autonomous Race, and Air-Drone Emergency Service.
