The Jom Masuk Universiti (JMU) Carnival 2026 Central Zone I, organised entirely online, has been recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) as the Largest Virtual Higher Education Carnival, highlighting a new milestone in digital engagement for higher education outreach.

The two-day event, held on March 16 and 17, was hosted by Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and featured participation from all public universities in the country, along with numerous higher education agencies and institutions.

The carnival successfully recorded 386 virtual exhibition booths, surpassing the organisers’ initial target of 240 booths, reflecting strong participation from universities, government agencies and private education providers.

UiTM Vice-Chancellor Prof Datuk Ts Dr Shahrin Sahib @ Sahibuddin said the virtual format reflects an innovative approach in delivering information about higher education opportunities to students and the wider public.

He said the carnival served as a comprehensive platform where school leavers and prospective students could obtain information on academic programmes, admission pathways and study opportunities offered by public universities, public higher education institutions, the MARA Higher Education Division and private institutions.

“The virtual format allows students and parents to access important information about higher education more conveniently, while enabling institutions to engage directly with prospective applicants,” he said.

The Jom Masuk Universiti Carnival is a flagship initiative by the Ministry of Higher Education, aimed at assisting students in making informed decisions about their tertiary education options.

To facilitate the online experience, UiTM developed a dedicated digital platform, jommasuku.uitm.edu.my, which was designed and built internally by the university’s own technical team to provide an interactive and user-friendly environment for visitors.

A total of 62 agencies and higher education institutions took part in the virtual carnival, each operating digital booths to share information and respond to enquiries from students.

As host, UiTM also set up 37 virtual booths, representing its faculties and departments, enabling direct engagement between university representatives and prospective students.

Shahrin expressed appreciation to the Public Higher Education Institution Student Intake Division (BKPA) under the Department of Higher Education for entrusting UiTM as the strategic partner for the Central Zone I programme.

He also thanked Maxis for its support as the event’s sponsor and industry partner.

He said the carnival is expected to help students gain clearer insights into their educational pathways while encouraging the development of skilled and knowledgeable graduates capable of contributing to national progress.
