Taylor’s University has been officially conferred the prestigious Self-Accreditation Status by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency, a recognition endorsed by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia. The announcement was made during the Opening Ceremony of the Taylor’s 16th International Teaching & Learning Conference, officiated by YB Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir, Minister of Higher Education Malaysia.
The conferment of Self-Accreditation Status represents the Government’s highest trust in Taylor’s University’s robust internal quality assurance system and proven record of academic excellence. With this recognition, Taylor’s is empowered to accredit its own academic programmes through its Senate Committee, while professional programmes will continue to be overseen by their respective professional bodies. This milestone positions Taylor’s among only 20 institutions in Malaysia that hold this esteemed status, strengthening its standing as a world-class university and boosting global confidence in the quality, relevance and employability of its graduates.
This milestone further strengthens Taylor’s position as one of the world’s leading institutions, complementing its achievement in the QS World University Rankings 2026, where it is placed at #253 globally and remains one of the top-ranked private universities in Southeast Asia.

The conference, themed “Higher Education in the Age of AI: Transforming Learning for Sustainable Futures”, convened global academics, researchers, policymakers and industry leaders to address higher education’s most pressing issues across three subthemes: Artificial Intelligence, Education for Sustainable Development and Curriculum Innovation.
The conference also spotlighted Taylor’s Impact Labs, where over 210 industry and non-governmental organisation (NGO) partners collaborate with the university to address pressing challenges such as urban poverty, food security and climate change. Together with its focus on AI and sustainability, the discussions at the conference reaffirm Taylor’s role as a thought leader in higher education, one that bridges academic excellence with real-world impact in Malaysia and beyond.
