Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) is one of Malaysia’s public universities. Located in Perlis, the most northern state of Malaysia, UniMAP is one of the members of the Malaysian Technical University Network (MTUN) focusing on TVET. UniMAP ranked Top 1,200 for best young universities in the world by The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Ranking 2022 and ranked 801-1000 by the QS World University Rankings 2023. Recently, UniMAP has been categorised as ‘Competitive’ in Sistem Penarafan Bersepadu Institusi Pendidikan Tinggi Malaysia (SETARA).
UniMAP TVET Centre was established in September 2022. For the record, Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) is the first public university to have its own TVET Centre. Since its establishment, UniMAP TVET Centre has been recognised as Malaysia’s Best For Professional TVET Certification award at the Malaysia Education & TVET Awards 2023. This award marks the first time UniMAP TVET Centre has received such recognition, which successfully showcases UniMAP’s efforts to assist the country in meeting the demand for skilled workers.
Apart from the prestigious award above, UniMAP TVET Centre is also recognised as an Approved Training Provider (ATPP) by the Malaysian Board of Technologists (MBOT). One of the Centre of Excellence under UniMAP TVET Centre is also nominated as the TVET Collaboration Hub in Manufacturing (Semiconductor) by Majlis TVET Negara (MTVET).
With 3 teaching factories and 9 industrial laboratories, UniMAP TVET Centre offers several certifications from UniMAP and also the industries. Among the industry partners and certifications offered are:
- CISCO Systems- Introduction to Networks, Routing & Switching, Cybersecurity and Internet-of-Things
- Siemens – SitrainTia Portal Service and Maintenance, Electronics, Automation
- Festo – Automation, PLC Programming, Applied PLC, Modular PLC
- Huawei – Huawei Certified ICT Associate (HCIA) professional certification program in Routing & Switching, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Storage
- Keysight – RF & Microwave, Wireless Connectivity, Internet-of-Things
Besides, UniMAP TVET Centre also offers training to all, especially to students from schools and higher education institutions through its teaching factories and skilled workshops/laboratories. Among the trainings are:
