UNIQLO Malaysia has once again clinched the #1 position as the Most Preferred Graduate Employer to Work For in 2022 in the fashion category of the Graduate’s Choice Award, continuing its reign from the last two years as the clothing retail company that university students nationwide aspire to get a job with.
The Graduates Choice Award is Malaysia‘s most authoritative graduate employer branding award with the result 100% determined by votes of university students nationwide. The 2022 awards voting ended on June 30th with over 23,000 votes from university students across Malaysia. This is also the first year the Graduates Top 25 Preferred Employer award was introduced.
In addition to its top employer ranking in the fashion category, UNIQLO Malaysia was also ranked among the Graduates’ Top 25 Preferred Employers in 2022, making the global apparel retail company among the top 1% sought after employers for graduates in Malaysia.
“It is an honor to be named an employer of choice for graduates. The awards recognize our efforts in providing career opportunities in a good working environment for Malaysians of diverse backgrounds, who choose to develop their career with us,” said Yuki Yamada, CEO of UNIQLO in Malaysia and Singapore.
With regard to the appeal of UNIQLO for graduates, he explains the company‘s key strategy in human resource development in the hiring of UNIQLO Manager Candidates (UMCs). “UMC is a global program that recruits fresh graduates to train and mentor them to be business leaders. They start their careers at UNIQLO stores, where they are exposed to daily store operation, personnel supervision, merchandising, local marketing, store layout and inventory management. This provides them on-the-job education as we gradually guide them towards a business management role, accelerating their development from retail management to making key business decisions,” he says.
Today, many of our well-developed UMCs are heading our large stores or heads of specific functions at headquarter level, and working overseas in markets such as Japan, India and Singapore,” adds Yamada.
UNIQLO Malaysia is currently recruiting graduates who seek a career in clothing retail. Applications for the position of UNIQLO Manager Candidate are now open until December 8th. Interested applicants can find further information on UNIQLO Malaysia’s LinkedIn and Instagram.
