Formerly operating as Kolej Yayasan Pahang Advanced Skills (KYPAS), the institution underwent a strategic rebranding in November 2023. This transformation not only refreshed its identity but also marked a bold step towards becoming a future-focused center of excellence in human capital development. Guided by the philosophy “We Train Skills, We Hire Attitude”, YPAS emphasizes that success is built not only on technical knowledge but also on values such as discipline, integrity, and adaptability.
At the core of YPAS’s offerings are its structured Malaysian Skills Certification pathways (SKM and DKM). These programs cover five key areas: Culinary, Bakery, Computer System, Office Management, and Electrical Studies. Each program is designed to equip students with recognized national qualifications, blending classroom instruction with extensive hands-on training. In Culinary and Bakery, students master the art and science of food preparation, while those in Computer System gain expertise in digital technologies essential for today’s industries. Office Management trainees develop organizational and administrative skills, and Electrical students acquire the technical knowledge required for safe and efficient operations. Recognizing that skills training must go hand in hand with real job opportunities, YPAS has been offering the Career Guarantee Program since 2018. With its Train and Place approach, the program ensures that participants complete their skills certification and transition smoothly into the workforce. Specially designed to serve youth, underprivileged communities, and qualified industry workers, the Career Guarantee Program reflects YPAS’s strong commitment to addressing unemployment while empowering individuals to achieve financial independence.
Under this program, YPAS provides a wide portfolio of industry-relevant training opportunities, ranging from hospitality services, maritime operations, and welding to scaffolding, fiber optics, and emerging fields such as programming, data science, and full-stack development. These courses are carefully aligned with industry requirements, making the Career Guarantee Program one of the most impactful initiatives in connecting education directly to employment.
Another unique hallmark of YPAS is its Tahfiz Mahir Program, introduced in 2022. This initiative provides vocational and technical training for graduates of tahfiz and madrasah institutions, enriching their prospects with additional career pathways. What makes the program distinctive is its integration of TVET skills training with the continuous reinforcement of Quranic memorization. This dual approach ensures that participants preserve their spiritual foundation while acquiring professional qualifications that enhance their employability. Students are drawn from madrasah and tahfiz centers across Pahang and beyond, making the program a national model of holistic education. The objectives of Tahfiz Mahir are threefold: to position tahfiz graduates as contributors to socio-economic development, to introduce innovation in the model of tahfiz education, and to provide nationally recognized training that secures long-term career opportunities.
